10+ Prettiest Castles in the United States

Now that it is summer break, it’s the best time to visit some gorgeous castles in the United States. Whether you’re a USA native or not, this places are a must-see nonetheless.

Boldt Castle

The Boldt Castle is located on Heart Island in the Saint Lawrence River near Alexandria Bay of New York. It’s known to be a major landmark and tourist attraction of the U.S. state of New York. The castle begins to open up mid May and closes mid October, the warmer months. The castle is opened throughout the day but their is no facilities for overnight accommodations. Visitors are allowed to enter and explore the inside of the castle while visiting.

Hearst Castle

The Hearst Castle is a National Historic Landmark located on the Central Coast of California in the United States. This National Landmark took decades to be built. The Hearst Castle is known to be a popular stop for road trippers. Visitors are welcomes to check out the 123 acres of gardens with unique flowers, 165-room estate, the pool, and the wonderful, extraordinary art collection.

Belvedere Castle

Another wonderful castle located in New York City, New York is the Belvedere Castle. It is located near Central Park in Manhattan, New York City. The castle offers exhibit rooms and an observation deck for visitors. Visitors are allowed to enter the inside and explore the castle. The castle opens in the fall and closes after spring finish. This castle is great to see the views and the surrounding landscapes because the building originally had no windows or doors.

Bannerman Castle

The Bannerman Castle located in the middle of the Hudson River in Beacon, New York. The castle is located on the Pollepel Island and is the principal feature on the island. The Bannerman Castle previously was an abandoned military surplus warehouse. Today, their is public tours of the Bannerman Castles. Visitors are welcomed to enter the castle and look around. The only way to get to the Castle is to cross the Hudson River by taking a ferry from the Beacon Train Station.

Fonthill Castle

Located near the east coast, is the Fonthill Castle. The Fonthill Castle is located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. It was the home of the American archeologist and tile marker Henry Chapman Mercer. The Fonthill Castle can also be viewed as a large house and not a castle. The Fonthill Castle offers one-hour guided tours through the historic home. This castle features 44 rooms, over 200 windows, 18 fireplaces, 10 bathrooms and one powder room. The Castle has known been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Bishop’s Palace

The Bishop’s Palace, also known as the Gresham’s Castle is a Historical landmark located in Galveston, Texas. The Gresham’s Castle was built to withstand the great hurricane of 1900. The Castle welcomed hundreds of survivors of the hurricane into their home. The castle now has self-guided tours that are available daily. The castle has four floors but was changed to three floors where visitors are allowed to visit all of them.

Disney Orlando Castle

One of the more obvious castles, but a good one nonetheless is the castle at the Disney in Orlando, Florida. This option is kid friendly and is a great vacation spot. This castle also inspired the current Disney logo.

Gillette Castle

The Gillette Castle is a state park located in Lyme, Connecticut. The actor, playwright, and director William Hooker Gillette built the castle in East Haddam, Connecticut. The Castle offers free parking space but the general admission cost $6, children (6-12) $2, five and under are free. The Castle is open year-round, daily from the morning till sunset. Visitors are allowed to enter the castle at their own pace.

Singer Castle

New York is known to have many great castles. While you are visiting the state, you might as well visit another beautiful castle. The Singer Castle is located on Dark Island near Chippewa Bay. The Singer Castle is open daily to the public from 10am to 5pm. Tours will be offered throughout the day to visitors. The tours will take you through the lavish decors and breathtaking views along the way. You will have to take a ferry to cross the bay to reach to the island.

Iolani Palace

The Iolani Palace was home to the royal residence of the rulers of the Kingdom of Hawaii. It is now a Museum in Honolulu Hawaii. The Palace offers two tour options: guided tours with a Place Docent and a self-led Audio Tour. Both included a tour of the first and second floors of the palace. The tours will explain you the background and history behind the palace. Hour long guided tours cost $21.75 per adult and $6 for each child (5-12). Self-led audio tours cost $14.75 per adult and $6 for each child.

Hammond Castle

The Hammond Castle is a Museum located on the Atlantic coast of Gloucester, Massachusetts. The Castle was the home and laboratory of John Hays Hammond Jr. The Castle general admission fees are $18 for adults, $15 for senior citizens, $10 for Children (5-12) and children ages 4 and younger are free. Viewers can come in and look at the iconic arches and the surrounding views. The Hammond Castle Museum is listed as the National Register of Historic Places.
